Author’s Note: First a correction and apology. As a Catholic, I’m not deeply knowledgeable of various Protestant denominations. As a lazy person, I’m not willing to do the proper research to identify the differences. In my previous post, I described our church in Salt Lake City as Presbyterian. It was actually Episcopalian. A number of readers called that to my attention. I apologize for the error.
A Nice Short Ride
Our ride on Monday was only 30 miles to Layton, Utah to the beautiful home of one of our riders, Hoyt. He lives on the side of a mountain with a spectacular view. And he has a very large pool. Here I am doing a cannonball. It’s a little fuzzy (probably a blessing), but it’s me.
In short, we had a blast. Lots of frolicking in the pool. Lunch was amazing, homemade pulled pork and dessert was genuine Texas sheet cake, all prepared by Hoyt’s wife, LeeAnn.
As it happened, it was my turn to describe the day by doing the daily “vlog” that riders are invited to do. This will give you a sense of the experience.
For an even more lively depiction of the day, check out Monica Busby’s Instagram video which really captures the spirit of the ride. Monica is yet another Fuller Center Hall of Famer, who’s done many rides and is a brilliant videographer, from whom I hope to learn during the ride. I’m her official intern.
In this video, pay close attention, about halfway through, of my friend, Genie, making a miraculous basket while jumping off the diving board.
